There’s no difference whether you just started playing golf yesterday or if you’ve played on the PGA tour. Golf is a game that can be both rewarding and challenging no matter your level of expertise. Before hitting the golf course, peruse the following tips for some advice on getting that hole in one.
When you are golfing, your body plays an important role. Don’t just rely on your arms for power, use the formidable power of your entire body. Learn how to take advantage of all of your body’s strength as you swing. This will help you to get the ball further, possibly without having to swing your arms so hard.
When first learning to play, it is best to get the correct grip on the club. Beginners often grip the club too hard, thinking that they will hit the ball further that way. Instead, you should use a grip that is soft, but firm. Hold your club similar to how you would a bird.
When you get ready to swing, check your posture by wiggling your toes. If your toes wiggle freely, your posture may be tilted too far back. You want to lean but not excessively; you want to do it just enough to get a good stroke going.
A great tip for putting is when you address the ball, your left hand needs to be in front of the ball. Hold this position as you swing the club, maintaining it throughout your stroke. When you do this, you maintain a solid grip on your club while at the same time preventing the ball from unexpectedly jumping off the club face as it makes contact.
Look for the “sweet spot” of your golf club. This refers to a point on the club that should be ideally meeting the ball for the most accuracy and speed. You should practice with your clubs to identify the sweet spot of each, and remember to bring the spot into contact with the ball at the absolute extremity of your downward swing.
Now that you have taken the initiative to learn something new about the sport of golf, you can impress your golfing buddies (or that gorgeous pro shop attendant) with the information you’ve just picked up. Look for new ways to apply these skills to your current game, to make the game even more challenging and engaging.
